Dr. CARSTEN KROME
Carsten has worked as technical analyst for an aquaculture investment fund before launching Alimentos, overseeing various acquisitions of companies from the feed and aquaculture as well as tech space. He has entrepreneurial experience through his own start-up as a prawn farmer in Malaysia.
Carsten holds a Ph.D. from the University of Stirling, U.K., in feed science and a Masters in Marine Biology from the University of Kiel, Germany.
Tymen has 12 years experience as a financial professional in the high-tech industry specialising in planning and budget control for global corporations. He has overseen several start-up ventures in CFO positions shaping business models and taking these companies to the next stage.
Tymen holds an MBA from the University of Boulder, Colorado.
Hans has 30 years of experience in fish and shrimp nutrition, industrial aqua feed development and manufacturing as well as sales. Hans worked with leading aquafeed companies all over the world and established his own consulting company in 2008. As consultant Hans has worked on a wide range of assignments and geographies, ranging from acting as interim general manager for an aquafeed company in Greece, partnering a Biotech company in Spain and advising a feed manufacturer in Japan.
Companies that have used Hans´ specialized M&A and due diligence services chose to work with him, because of his extensive network in the industry and impressive market knowledge.
DR. WESLEY CARPENTIER
Wesley has been in management consulting since 2012 with a focus on sustainable agriculture, aquaculture and bio-based economy topics, mostly related to innovative use of biotechnology. Before, he held global responsibilities as director new market development and business development at DuPont de Nemours, where he was in charge of identifying new markets and launching initiatives in the ‘Biorefinery’ space.
Wesley is well acquainted with the grain and soy industries, which are a key part of the aquaculture feed value chain, as well as bio-active ingredients sold into the feed industry.
He holds an MSc and PhD in biochemistry, a BSc in Biology and advanced training in sales, finance, entrepreneurship and innovation.
After working in management consultancy (Bain and Company) and financial services (St. James’s Place Capital and Russell Investment Group), Jamie established Fonte Capital to support clients who have exceptional engineering expertise, scientific knowledge, or operating know-how. He works closely with them to build pipelines of commercial opportunities and / or to establish relationships with different forms of capital.
These clients typically focus on the development, construction and operation of 'real assets' (energy, real estate, and agri / aquaculture projects). In some cases, Jamie takes on non-executive positions and invests personally in their businesses. In addition Jamie works with some institutional investors to source and create investment opportunities, and / or to select the right 3rd party advisors.
SPAROS is a spin-off company of the Centre of Marine Sciences of Algarve (CCMAR) / University of Algarve, devoted to innovate in the development of new products and processes for fish feeding and nutrition.
They offer the alliance of a strong scientific background in the area of fish nutrition with a flexible pilot-scale feed technology platform to the aquaculture sector.
